FAQ

Who We are?

World Vision is a Christian, child-focused and community-based organisation, dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice.

World Vision serves in more than 100 countries around the world` to support the wellbeing of millions of children and their families.

World Vision started its operations in Armenia right after the devastating earthquake in 1988 by delivering humanitarian aid. Later, along with the humanitarian support, World Vision started implementing development projects.

In 2000, World Vision launched its first ‘Child Sponsorship’ programme in Gyumri marking the start of long-term community development interventions.

Today, World Vision operates 11 offices in Armenia, and more than 110,000 children throughout the country directly benefit from the organisation’s development projects.

Where does the funding for our projects come from?

Our budget is generated by donations from individuals, corporate partners and donor organizations. World Vision has more than three million individual sponsors worldwide, who are recruited through offices on five continents.

With monthly donations of individual donors in different countries of the world, World Vision’s ‘Child Sponsorship’ programme focuses on improving the physical, emotional and social well-being of the most vulnerable children.

Within the past five years, World Vision in Armenia has launched a local ‘Child Sponsorship’ programme that is implemented mostly with the regular donations of locals and Diaspora Armenians.

Local ‘Child Sponsorship’ programme aims to improve the well-being of the extremely poor families and their children living in the vulnerable communities of Armenia.

World Vision also closely cooperates with and receives funding from institutional donors, including European Union in Armenia, USAID, UNICEF, UNHCR, US DOS and BPRM.

Why donate to World Vision ?

Our mission, values and strong organisational capacity help us make sure that your donation reaches those who need it, and all the resources are being used in the most efficient and effective way. We offer everyday operation in six marzes of Armenia.

World Vision has over 70 years of experience working with communities, donors, partners, and governments to create opportunities for better futures for vulnerable children even in the toughest places.

World Vision tackles extreme poverty and need at its roots working individually with each child and each family, but also improving communities so that every child enjoys life in all its fullness.

World Vision keeps the costs down; only in 2020, 88% of World Vision's total operating expenses were used for programs that benefit children, families, and communities in need.

World Vision has policies and procedures to help ensure every available dollar makes it to the communities we serve. Some marketing and administration costs are required, of course, but we strive to keep these to a minimum; as much as 90 percent of revenue is sent to the field.

We are accountable to those we serve, as well as donors who enable us to do our work.

World Vision adheres to international standards and monitoring systems, such as the International Red Cross Code of Conduct. We also publish an annual report on accountability that reflects our work and the openness with which we operate in nearly 100 countries.

What are the ways to donate ?

World Vision Armenia has created both one-time donation opportunities, as well as ways to continuously be involved in the organisation’s life-changing initiatives.

World Vision is also open to corporate partnership that can amplify our efforts and positively impact the whole communities and groups of children in need, and individual donations directed to the benefit of a single child.

Ways to donate to World Vision’s life-changing initiatives are multiple:

  • online donations through donate.am website,
  • corporate partnership,
  • bank transfers,
  • SMS donations,
  • fundraising events,
  • volunteering.

Check out our donate.am page to find the best way that matches your interest and credo to donate.

How do you keep yourself accountable to your individual and corporate donors ?

We are accountable to those we serve, and most importantly, to donors who enable us to do our work.

For online donations, we share an online report with photos and stories about the impact of the completed donation/projects through donate.am website, as well as regularly share our donor newsletter to every single donor who has ever left an e-mail while donating.

For the individual child sponsors, individual reports are being sent out three times per year reporting on the improvement in child’s life achieved due to sponsors’ donation and child’s individual development plan created within World Vision’s ‘Child Sponsorship’ programme.

Within the corporate partnership, our partners receive an in-depth report, including a brief financial snapshot on how the donate amount created a lasting change in the communities involved.
